Charter Vessel
Our customized 40’ commercial fishing vessel “ FLYING O” has undergone a complete make-over to suit both Sport fishing Charters as well as a platform to assist in Marine Studies. We are certified and ticketed by the Department of Transport as a passenger carrying vessel meeting vessel safety and operating requirements. As well the owner/captain is certified with a 60Ton Unlimited Masters Certificate to operate coast wide. We are capable and accustomed to extended overnight trips with accommodations and amenities for up to 4 quests.
For your comfort and safety, the FLYING O is equipped with the following:
- 6 man Viking life raft
- Coast guard approved lifejackets
- Nobletec Global Mapping and Positioning System
- Furuno GPS and 2 Furuno sounders
- 18 mile Furuno radar
- Marine VHF’s
- Comdav Auto Pilot
- Sigmar diesel cabin heater
- Force 10 stove with thermostat controlled oven
- Electric head [toilet]
- Full stand up shower
- Electric refrigerator
- Deep freeze
- BBQ
- Guest Berths Forward – with complete bedding
- 250 gallons fresh water – for showers and domestic use
Items to assist in Marine and Environmental work:
- Boom with winch for heavy lifting
- Capstan hydraulic hauler
- Stern steering and throttle controls
- 15’ Prince Craft tender skiff with outboard/jet drive capabilities
- 2500 watt Trace Inverter
- 8.5 KW Onan generator
- 3 KW Yanmar generator
We have done several charters with the research firm WORLEYPARSONS CANADA in the past, and some of the features they’ve indicated helped in their decision to use the FLYING O are:
