Most saltwater sports fisherman dream of the chance to experience world-class chinook salmon fishing on the Queen Charlotte Islands. Your host and captain, Colin Flaten, has made his living commercial fishing in and around these waters and has intimate knowledge of these areas. In order to maximize the quality chinook runs, we break our season into three areas. We start in mid-May and fish until the end of June on the West Coast of the Queen Charlottes starting our trips from Queen Charlotte City (near the airport at Sandspit). Next, in the beginning of July until the end of August, we relocate to start our trips out of Masset on the top end of the Queen Charlotte Island and will fish as far west as Langara Island. Also during July, August and September we offer trips out of Prince Rupert for those who can not make their way over to the Queen Charlotte Islands. The halibut fishing in both areas is great and everyone dreams of that 100 lb plus barn door. When you arrive...Your adventure starts either first thing in the morning or late afternoon depending on your travel arrangements, and usually consists heading out to the fishing grounds and pulling our crab traps for a fresh feed of crab. In the evening, enjoy the sunset as you relax on the back deck under the canopy while the captain anchors the boat in a protected cove and starts the barbeque. Anchoring overnight allows you primetime fishing hours before any "day" excursions arrive. What separates us from the rest... Our 40ft. vessel "MV Flying O" was built and customized specifically for the warmth and comfort of these waters.
We do not split you up and send you out in small open boats. Instead, you are fully protected from all weather conditions with plenty of room to move
around and enjoy the company of your group. When we anchor at night in protective locations we had a large BBQ to assist in dining on the great selection of seafood we
catch all day long. Over the years we have had many families and couples who have found this to their liking. Colin Flaten
